Mary Alice Reporting – Council members made a decision, Monday evening, related to a contract for several employee units.

Resolution 20-2022 was placed on the legislative agenda and council was asked to pass it on the first reading.

This relates to three representing units that accepted a wage increase and higher health insurance contribution, with the resolution preamble being read by Clerk Julie Courtright prior to a vote.

“To adopt an agreement between the City of New Philadelphia and AFSCME 1958 and Ohio Council Eight Clerical Chapter to be effective January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024.”

Council gave a passing vote for the legislation.

Meanwhile, negotiations continue within the city’s remaining bargaining unit, the International Association of Firefighters, as they are at an impasse and headed into a collective bargaining fact-finding process. Mayor Joel Day noted that this presentation will not be held until July.
