Mary Alice Reporting – ~ The Garaway Local School District will have armed staff members. This became effective at the January 9th Board of Education meeting as they passed and adopted the resolution to authorize certain employees to have a firearm on school property and in designated school safety zones.

~ The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that they have dealt with multiple break-ins and thefts of the clothing drop-off site at the Calvary United Methodist Church, on S. Church Street in Sherrodsville. The incidents have taken place in the overnight hours and suspects have been known to drive an unknown color Dodge Dakota truck and more recently, a Penske rental truck. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Carroll Sheriff’s Office at 330-627-2141 ext. 0 for dispatch.

~ Buckeye Career Center is hosting “Pathways to In-Demand Careers After Graduation” as a way for 11th and 12th graders, and family members, to learn more about post-graduation options. The webinar will start with a short BCC presentation about full and part-time options at the New Philadelphia Center. It will then transition to the careers presentation by Ohio Technical Centers (OTC’s) and At the Core, which will go over how students can fast-track their success using postsecondary options and learning about well-paying-jobs that are in-demand.

Pre-registration is not required; however, those not attending in-person will have to receive webinar access at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org for the link. The event is Tuesday, January 17th at 6pm at Buckeye.
