Nick McWilliams reporting – The New Philadelphia City Health Department is happy with their ongoing mass vaccination clinic at Tuscora Park.
That vaccination clinic is held every Thursday for the foreseeable future.
Mayor Joel Day noted in his mayor’s report during council’s latest meeting that he’s been in contact with Health Commissioner Vickie Ionno, who says that a handful of vaccines were given on Monday, with plenty more scheduled this week.
“The commissioner said the recent winter storms caused transportation issues, resulting last week in the department not receiving its weekly shipment of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine. Using the supply on hand, the Health Department planned to administer 30 vaccines [Monday] and 220 at Thursday’s clinic at the park.”
In February alone, the city administered over 1,000 doses, with 1,727 given to residents to date.
City residents are reminded that the health department is closed Thursday for the vaccine clinic.
