Mary Alice Reporting – No one was injured after an early Monday morning fire broke out at a New Philadelphia home.

The city’s Fire Department was called out at 2:43 am for a confirmed blaze at 411 Third Street NE.

Assistant Fire Chief Matt Tharp explains that, upon arrival, crews found an exterior shed, up against the house, on fire.

“They used an inch and three-quarter line off the first arriving engine, put the shed out, and then moved into the building where the fire had spread into the attic space of the house. They extinguished that fire and then had to do some extensive overhaul because it kind of ran the whole roofline.”

A possible cause has not been determined.

Tharp notes that they were assisted by Dover and Uhrichsville Fire Departments and Smith Ambulance.
