Mary Alice Reporting – Despite statewide numbers over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the local Ohio State Highway Patrol Post did not see any fatal crashes.

The reporting period ran from November 25th to November 29th with Troopers maintaining a visible presence.

In Ohio, over the five-day reporting period, nine people were killed with two being pedestrians, four were not wearing their seatbelt, and two were driving impaired.

Lt. Laura Taylor says that, out of the New Philadelphia Post, no fatal crashes occurred from the holiday.

“Combined effort with the motoring public and our officers to keep us fatal free [over the holiday]. We’re always encouraging the motoring public to do their part and wear their safety belts, drive cautiously, and obey all the traffic laws.”

Throughout Ohio, Troopers arrested almost 300 people for impaired driving and almost 200 for drugs. In addition, OSP cited over 940 for seatbelt violations and almost 150 for distracted driving.
