Mary Alice Reporting – A Resolution related to firearms has been withdrawn after Tuscarawas Commissioners voted on Monday.
The legislation, 179-2020, authorized employees to carry and use firearms in the Tuscarawas County Office Building providing a valid conceal carry permit.
Commissioner Al Landis noted that, despite the resolution, in-office carrying was not allowed since it was more of a formality related to training.
The need to rescind the resolution is a result of a secured single entrance now in operation for the County Office Building and the Courthouse. As the building is one complex, it falls under the statutes and restrictions where a courtroom is located and concealed handgun licenses are inapplicable.
