Mary Alice Reporting – It’s New Year’s weekend and the Tuscarawas County Safe Communities program is asking folks to think of safety if hosting or attending a party.
We’re all ready to leave 2020 behind but Coordinator Kelly Snyder says that there still needs to be responsibility when it comes to any parties.
Safe guidelines in Ohio are still in effect and she strongly recommends practicing these for any festivities.
“I know the holidays are going to be different this year and we are asking people to, you know, remember the safe distancing guidelines and making the holiday weekend as safe as possible. When you’re getting out on the road, think about what you’re doing. If you’re going to have a few drinks, think about how you’re going to get home safely.”
Those hosting a party also need to be responsible for their guests and not allow anyone to leave if they are impaired and do not have a sober driver.
Additionally, the Drive Sober, Get Pulled Over campaign is also running through January 1st as a prevention measure and awareness to not drink and drive.
Any suspicious activity can be sent to the Ohio State Highway Patrol by dialing #677.
