Nick McWilliams reporting – Nearly $13,000 will go to a local school district and non-profit, with Uhrichsville distributing their remaining federal grant money to either side.
Uhrichsville city council agreed to offer the donation to the Claymont City School District and the Twin City Christian Service Center.
Law Director J.J. Ong discussed the idea with council before a vote, noting the recipients will be held to the same legal standard with the funds as the city has been.
“The city would have to sign into a sub-grant agreement. And [council members] have two of those. By signing this agreement, the entity receiving those funds has to agree that they can only expend those funds for purposes allowed under the CARES Act.”
City council also approved the purchase of a power cot for one of the fire department’s ambulances, along with wages and sick pay related to firefighters being out of commission due to COVID-19 currently.
Both were paid for through the CARES Act, along with the full $172,800 purchase of a new ambulance.
