Nick McWilliams reporting – A five-year, 5-mil operating levy is back for renewal in the village of Mineral City.

The renewal is set to commence in 2022, and would first be due in 2023.

Mayor Laurie Green says that the dollars created are put back directly into the village for everyday operations.

“Those operating expenses basically just puts some money into our general fund, that will make sure that bills for the village are paid, keeps our street lights going for the safety of the village, library expenses, things like that. That keeps our employees paid.”

The levy generates roughly $39,000 each year, with tax rates affected over the five-year span.

Green asks all residents to head to the polls for the November General Election, with early voting still ongoing and polls opening on Tuesday.
