Sally Ann Martin peacefully entered eternal life following a period of declining health on Tuesday, November 17, 2021. Her spirit is carried on by her brother, sister-in-law, nieces, great-niece and nephews, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. We, along with the thousands of children who knew her as their teacher, Miss Martin, were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Sally during her 82 years. We were also blessed with lots of laughs.

Sally was born on July 20, 1939, and was raised in Adena, Ohio. She graduated in 1957 and went on to attend and graduate from The Ohio State University becoming an avid, life-long fan. Sally was a devoted teacher who taught for over 40 years for Columbus Public schools, mostly as a fifth-grade teacher, and inspired her nieces to follow in her footsteps. She worked hard to promote the field of education within the Delta Kappa Gamma Society serving in many roles through the years. Sally enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her church family on Sundays. She especially enjoyed performing in the Easter and Christmas Cantatas and singing along to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” with her nieces.

She is survived by her brother, Richard (Sheila) Martin; her nieces, Leeanne (Doug) Burnworth, and Jill (Chad) Rippeth; cousin and best friend, Jill (Dick) Butterly and their son Blake; her beloved great-niece,
Lauren; and great-nephews, Branden, Connor, Colin, and Bryce; as well as close friends who are too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Sally is reunited with numerous friends; her mother, Helen Sosey Martin; father, Dr. A.J. Martin; and her beloved dog, Buttons.

Friends can visit with Sally’s family at Grace Life Church of the Nazarene in New Albany, Ohio on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. A service will begin at 11 a.m. Dress to show your Ohio State Buckeye pride. A private Christian burial will be held in Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

In Sally’s memory, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave., SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
