Nick McWilliams reporting – The local EAA chapter is offering scholarship dollars to future aviators.

The EAA Chapter 1077 at Harry Clever Field is offering a $4,000 scholarship to someone who is dedicated to learning how to fly.

In order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must be at least 16 and a half years old, be able to pass a physical exam, handle mental and physical stress, and have average to above average math and STEM skills.

The funds are intended to act as a partial reimbursement for the full cost of a license, which can run over $9,000.

In order to keep the scholarship, awardees must show progress reports of their training, and attend the chapter’s monthly meetings and activities.

Money will be distributed after submission of receipts of proper training programs, and should be completed within 12 months from the start.
