Mary Alice Reporting – One of the defendants charged in a rash of thefts received a reserved sentence.

Steven Dennis was part of a group of at least seven others and was indicted for multiple storage thefts that occurred starting in January 2020 and lead to a three-month investigation.

Tuscarawas County Assistant Prosecutor Bob Urban says that, during Tuesday’s sentencing, Dennis faced counts of theft, breaking and entering, and receiving stolen property for three separate cases.

“Complete sentence for the three cases was a 36-month prison term in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. That prison term was reserved and he was placed on three years of community control sanctions or what used to be referred to as probation.”

Dennis will also have to make restitution to several victims over the three cases.

During the Dover police investigation, a wide range of items had been recovered and other law enforcement agencies were involved due to the thefts spanning three counties.
