Mary Alice Reporting –

Small business is an important part of a community and staying local when purchasing products correlates to a direct impact.

A day to celebrate and support, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season.

There is a closer connection with a smaller business since many have been around for years and are locally owned, with Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce President Scott Robinson saying that there is an economic benefit as well.

The business owners have a chance to help their community through sponsorships and donating prizes for events and activities. It really works out. It’s a chain that happens in a positive fashion for the community when you do shop local.”

The Business Alliance for Local Living Economies reports that for every $100 spent at a small business, $68 stays in the community.
