Nick McWilliams reporting – Governor Mike DeWine’s office recently announced millions in law enforcement funding aimed at working against drug activity.

Grants in 2022 total $3.6 million, and are being distributed to 41 law enforcement agencies, with some 67 counties expected to be helped by the funds.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office will receive one of the larger grants at $152,785, while Tuscarawas is receiving just over $15,000.

The goal is to bolster drug task forces, which often work in collaboration with each other to prevent widespread distribution of narcotics in potentially high trafficked areas.

Awarded dollars can be used for investigations, intelligence, multi-agency coordination, and information sharing.

Additionally, DeWine added that the grants should be utilized to assist drug overdose victims and their families with resources and treatment options.
