Nick McWilliams reporting – A geotechnical survey will be conducted on the Waterworks Hill Road slip, following a resolution signed by the Tuscarawas County commissioners.
The large slip on the county road has led to an indefinite closure, as a portion of the pavement near a guardrail started deteriorating and falling away.
The commissioners approved the motion in their final 2020 meeting, with Commissioner Chris Abbuhl noting that there is potential danger with a slip in that area.
“I’m just glad that it got identified quickly. And that there’s been action taken on it to try and get it repaired and secure it to make sure that nobody [got hurt.] Some of those drops [are far.]”
The slip occurred shortly after a dam was removed on Big Stillwater Creek in Uhrichsville.
The study, which will cost just above $68,000, will be conducted by S&ME Incorporated, which is based out of North Carolina.
