Nick McWilliams reporting – A multi-month investigation into thefts and other crimes led to arrests in Coshocton County this week.

Sheriff’s detectives opened the investigation in July after a string of thefts, breaking and entering incidents, and stolen vehicles.

A nighttime operation was set up on December 6th, where detectives and deputies observed two males breaking into a structure under surveillance.

When officers approached, the two fled the scene on a four wheeler, before running on foot into a heavily-wooded area.

After containing a perimeter, detectives and a K-9 unit tracked the two, eventually locating the pair and taking them into custody.

On Thursday, formal charges were filed against 33-year-old Kenneth Humphrey II and 35-year-old Shane Phillips, both of Coshocton.

Both have charged with third-degree felonies of tampering with evidence, with more charges to be filed soon through the county prosecutor.
