Mary Alice Reporting –

Charges are pending for three men, all from Uhrichsville, in connection to the death of John Bashline.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office received an early Sunday morning call reporting an unconscious person in a red Honda Fit that was on McKee Road, at the intersection of Eastport Road.

The 37-year-old victim, later identified as Bashline, of Powhatan Point, in Belmont County, was in the backseat and the Tuscarawas Coroner determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Detective Lt. Adam Fisher explains that, during the intensive investigation, video footage was collected showing a dark-colored pickup.

“The investigation was extensive and investigators were ultimately able to determine what appeared to be a vehicle or additional vehicle associated in the same time and place that the victim’s vehicle was located. Suspects were ultimately developed.”

After multiple interviews and numerous false statements that were investigated, the three suspects provided independent but consistent statements describing what lead to the death of Bashline, which reportedly took place at a residence on Feed Springs Road.

“Very apparent that it was a reckless handling of firearms that involved some alcohol consumption, which ultimately led to the death. It appears that Dalbert Sanders is the individual who may be primarily responsible for handling the firearm at the time of Bashline’s death and the others were involved in the incidents immediately following.”

36-year-old Sanders is expected to be charged with the death but also abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

The two co-conspirators, 37-year-old Michael Reynolds and 26-year-old Dominic Reynolds are being held on consideration of charges of tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

Formal charges will be determined by the Tuscarawas Prosecutors Office.

Fisher notes that assisting during the Sheriff’s Office investigation included Dennison, Uhrichsville, and Dover Police, along with the countless businesses and residents who helped piece a timeline through provided video footage.
