Mary Alice Reporting – In a three-month time span, 459 vehicle crashes were investigated in Tuscarawas County.

Of those accidents, in the second quarter of 2022, the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to, three resulted in an equal number of fatalities.

Safe Communities of Tuscarawas County Coordinator Josh Sample explains that education and prevention remain key.

“When we look at the statistics, we know that seatbelt safety education and enforcement continue to be top safety priority in our county. Of the traffic crash that occurred [the second quarter], 26% of the drivers were not wearing seatbelts.”

On August 24th, members of the Safe Communities partner with local law enforcement, Empower Tusc, ODOT, Operation Life Saver, Tuscarawas County Engineer’s Office, Tuscarawas County businesses, and community members to discuss traffic-related fatality and injury prevention.
