Mary Alice Reporting – Four-day muzzleloader season yielded just over 9,700 deer harvested.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources notes the season ran from January 2nd to the 5th.

The top five Ohio counties for taking white-tailed deer by muzzleloader was Coshocton with 367 and then Tuscarawas at 344, followed by Licking, Guernsey, and Muskingum counties.

Archery season is still open for another month, running through February 7th.

ODNR reports that in all 88 counties, an estimated 310,000 hunters participated in Ohio’s deer gun season.
