Nick McWilliams reporting – Nearly 40 local non-profits are set to receive almost $665,000 in grants from the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation.
The grants come from the Max and Erma Miller Donor Advised Fund, general fund of the foundation, the Dr. Leslie Harrold Charitable Endowment Fund, the Dennison Community Fund, and the AAA Tuscarawas County Donor Advised Fund.
The Max and Erma Miller Fund gave out $245,000, highlighted by $55,000 to the RTY Park Place Teen Center, $35,000 to the United Way of Tuscarawas County, and $25,000 to Dress-A-Child, Trumpet in the Land, and the Grace Lutheran Church of Dover.
The Dr. Leslie Harrold Fund gave $229,000 to Community Hospice and $119,793 to the Salvation Army, and a total of $185,000 to eight local school districts.
Foundation grants came in just under $100,000, with top dollar amounts going to the United Way of Tuscarawas County for $17,500 for the Ohio Imagination/Dolly Parton Library project. The Tuscora Park Foundation was awarded $10,000 for new picklebar courts, with Dover City Schools set to upgrade electrical and signs at Crater Stadium.
