The Twin City community is mourning the loss of a long-time business owner.

Homer Rodney “Rod” Smith, of Uhrichsville, passed away on March 24th following a lengthy illness. The 69-year-old was the owner of Rod’s Donut Shop for 46 years.

Smith was born in March 1954, in Dennison, and graduated from Claymont High school in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his sisters, and nieces and nephews, per the obituary listed at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home.

A private graveside services will be held in New Philadelphia and per his wishes, instead of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Road NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

According to a post from the donut shop, the business will remain open with a potential buyer, who shares a love of baking.
