Nick McWilliams reporting – The city of Uhrichsville could be lowering speeds on a stretch of pavement they’ve received multiple complaints about.

Citizen complaints have come in multiple times about speeds and heavy truck traffic on North Water Street Extension, prompting a traffic study by a third party.

Mayor Mark Haney said that the city had received the results, which could potentially lead to some changes on the outskirts of the city.

I was actually somewhat surprised by the study’s results of the posted speed limit. The study actually said the speed limit should be 35 miles per hour all the way down through there. I’ve sent a directive out in the last week to the police department to enforce current speed limits and to enforce the No Thru Truck issues.”

Currently, the speed limit is 45 mph from where the extension meets Brightwood Road to where it meets Indian Hill Road, where it drops to 35.

The mayor says that the city will be unable to identify and stop all offenders, but the increased presence of officers will help address some of the problem.

Haney also adds that officers have been stepping up enforcement on Eastport Avenue, and have ticketed multiple offenders who went through stop signs.
