Mary Alice Reporting – In the event a large scale operation is needed to distribute the COVID vaccine, the Tuscarawas County Fair Board is ready to take action.

The board recently met, coming to the decision that it made sense to open the possibility of using the fairgrounds in the event large supply quantities become available.

Doug Wills notes that the infrastructure is already in place and that this would create an opportunity to have drive-up or walk-up vaccinations.

“We want to be there to help in any way possible. We’re not trying to overrun anybody or be in charge. It’s just the fact that we wanted to offer any assistance and think that it’s a great location for traffic flow, buildings, infrastructure, and data centers.”

The offer is available to utilize the grounds should the need arise for a larger site.

Wills adds that, with everything already in place, the board is working under the philosophy that the fairgrounds would be ready within 48 hours.
