Mary Alice Reporting – The Tuscarawas County Metropolitan Sewer District has released the annual water quality report.

This covers the period between January 1st and December 31, 2021 and notes that drinking water has become safer and more reliable.

For the district, customers served within the Dundee water system are served by three groundwater wells. For the Wainwright Water System, the county purchases water from the Village of Tuscarawas, which received water from two wells.

For the Wilkshire Hill system, it receives water from two groundwater wells located near the treatment center. Wilkshire also has two emergency interconnections with the Village of Bolivar, but neither was used in 2021.

Many different substances are monitored on a strict sampling schedule to ensure quality water but also to meet health standards. Some of the substances identified include chlorine, a water additive to control microbes, fluoride with can be from erosion of natural deposits, an additive, or discharge from fertilizer or aluminum factors.
