Results are in for a fundraiser at the Tuscarawas County YMCA.
The idea behind the Penny War is that pennies and paper money count as positive points and then silver coins are counted as negative points.
During the week-long war, those coming to the local YMCA were asked to place money in the jug of their favorite department or for the least favorite, and the section with the most points win.
The 2022 first-place winner in points and amount raised was the aquatics department with almost $329 and more than 24,000 points. Fitness came in second place with $139.34.
The total amount, during this year’s campaign, was just over $792 compared to over $1,300 raised last year.
The YMCA offered thanks to their members who contributed and the fundraiser provides direct financial assistance to Tuscarawas County youth for a membership, lessons, youth sports, or afterschool programs.
