The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash where med-flight was called to transport an infant.
New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Jennifer Makris says Tuesday’s crash occurred at about 8:10am on Interstate 77, just south of the 77/250 split.
“It was a black 2008 Chevy Cobalt was traveling northbound when it went off the right-side of the road and striking a fence and a utility box and overturned. Both lanes were closed, probably about an hour, and the reason was we needed room for the medical helicopter to land on the interstate.”
Makris says all occupants were injured, one was ejected.
“The person who was ejected was a 2-month-old baby. The child was not secured in a car seat which caused the baby to be ejected from the vehicle.”
The female driver and a female passenger were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. The condition of all occupants is unknown at this time.
Makris says they are still investigating why the vehicle went of the right-side of the road.
