A man scheduled to go on trial this week for allegedly biting a Dover police officer is on the lam.
Court records indicate 47-year-old Jason Holt was released on his own recognizance in October after pleaded not guilty to felony assault and trespassing, and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. His jury trial previously scheduled for Wednesday was removed from the docket “pending apprehension of the defendant.”
Judge Elizabeth Thomakos ordered that when Holt is apprehended, he will be held in the Tuscarawas County Jail without bond.
Dover Police said back in July they were responding to a trespassing complaint on North Walnut Street when Holt bit an officer who was trying to remove him from the property. The bite was hard enough to draw blood on the officer’s arm. The grand jury indicted holt in August. He was arraigned on Oct. 31 when he pleaded not guilty and was released.
Judge Thomakos ordered his recognizance bond revoked on February 4th, the day after Holt was scheduled to appear for a hearing.
