Mary Alice Reporting –

The retirement of a long-time city employee was recognized at Monday’s council meeting in the City of New Philadelphia.

Within his report, Mayor Joel Day stated that, following a 52-year career, Rod Miller is retiring on April 28th.

Miller has been the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation.

The improvements that have been made in the City’s parks system over the span of his career were the result of Rod’s support and encouragement. There is no doubt: He loves this town and its people. I know Rod doesn’t want a lot of fanfare about his retirement, but he deserves it.”

Anyone wishing to congratulate Miller on his service to the city and its parks can stop by a retirement party on Friday, from 11am to 1pm, at the Tuscora Park pavilion.
