Chris L. “Tex” Kerch, 60, of New Philadelphia passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover following complications from Covid-19.

Born in Dover on November 14, 1960, he was the son of the late Lewis Kerch and Ledra Yvonne (Stilgenbauer) “Vonnie” Kerch.

Tex graduated from Dover High School and worked for over 26 years selling heavy-duty truck equipment. He was currently working at Dover Brake in Strasburg. He was often the “go-to” guy for anyone that needed semi-truck or trailer parts.

Tex enjoyed spending his time outdoors, riding his Harley, and generally being in the sun. He loved social gatherings with family and friends and always lived life to its fullest. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan.

In addition to his mother, Vonnie, he leaves behind the love of his life, Denise Stein, whom he married on August 17, 1996; his son, Nathan Kerch of New Philadelphia; daughter, Katana Kerch of New Philadelphia; his siblings, Jill (Jeff) Obermiller, Roland Burrier, Kevin (Laurie) Kerch, Keith Kerch, and Kelly (Mike) Bouscher; along with many nieces, nephews, and countless close friends.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dover on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 10-11:30 am. A service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:30 with Pastor David Geyer officiating. Tex was an easy-going guy, so the family suggests that guests come dressed casually. To sign an online guestbook for Tex, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
