Mary Alice Reporting – Royalty from around the state will descend on Mansfield next week for the Miss Ohio competition and among them will be Miss Clayland.

The local scholarship program is held in October and the current title holder is Caitlin Seifert.

Residing in Niles, the 2022 Kent State University graduate is preparing for the next competition level and is no stranger to the program has she has been part of program for seven years, starting in the Miss Ohio’s Outstanding Teen event and this will be her fifth time competition for the Miss Ohio title.

Seifert’s talent will be a baton routine has she started at three years old.

Her community service initiative is “Turn a Key: Opening the Door to Volunteering”.

“And it is roughly based upon my time learning how to be a great volunteer and falling in love with volunteering in high school, in Key Club. It’s a program where kids can earn different colored keys based upon different volunteer activities and anybody can get involved, and it’s really just about teaching the importance of volunteering and how simple it actually can be.”

During her current reign for the local community, Seifert has made appearances in Tuscarawas County by volunteering at Dennison Depot’s Polar Express, attending the Princess Tea and the Clay Museum, and participating in multiple parades.

The Miss Clayland Scholarship Program is a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America programs. On Sunday, the Miss Ohio parade kicks of the week’s events.
