Mary Alice Reporting –
Heat and humidity come with the summer months and the Tuscarawas County health Department is noting a few safety tips.
Today, the department is handing out a choice of cooling towel or misting fan while supplies last, between 9am to 6pm.
They are also educating the public on ways to help combat the heat and limit possible heat illness.
During the hottest hours of the day, try to stay indoors or go to a public location with air conditioning, drink extra water or a drink with electrolytes, limit outdoor activities, and wear sunscreen.
TCHD reminds to watch out for symptoms of heat related illness, like heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, or heat rash.
They also remind pet owners to provide a cool shelter or plenty of shad and extra, clean water.
