Mary Alice Reporting – Testing of the local polling machines will be done this week, to get ready for the upcoming election.

A special August 8th election was called for a statewide issue that relates to an Ohio constitutional amendment.

Secretary of State Frank LaRose released that more than 155,000 Ohioans have already voted in the special election with two weeks remaining.

The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Office has seen over 130 early in-person ballots cast. Director Gail Garbrandt says on Thursday, they will perform logistics and accuracy testing on the machines that will go to the polling locations.

“So, every single voting machine is opened. It is checked to make sure there is no data on the machines from the last election. They are cleaned and sealed.”

Early voting at the courthouse is still available and the last day to do so is August 6th. All polling locations open for the day Tuesday, August 8th.

The last day to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, August 1st.
