Gwen Rummell Reporting –
Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio (BBBSECO) has recently expanded their service to include Harrison County.
All three types of programs will be available, including school, community, and Big Futures-based mentoring.
The school-based program will take place at the Harrison Hills City school district for elementary through middle school-aged students to be mentored by high school and college students. The program will meet on Tuesdays after school for an hour, where Bigs and Littles will work on homework and social-emotional curriculum.
Community mentoring is for children ages 7-18 in need of guidance. They will be matched with adults who share similar interests and meet for 4 hours a month.
Big Futures is a transitional program for Littles who have aged out of the traditional match. The agency will support the youth from ages 18-24 as they enter the workforce, college, and independent life.
To learn how to get involved, call 330-339-6916 or visit the BBBSECO website at www.bigs4kids.com.
