Mary Alice Reporting –

Conotton Valley Union Local’s first day back is Thursday and the top theme for educators is ensuring that students are the focus each day.

According to Superintendent John Zucal, projects occurred over the summer months, such as new doors for the classrooms, thanks to grant dollars, which provided an upgrade but also a safety feature.

Some employee changes, Zucal notes, did happening heading into the new school year.

“Two new key hires that would be considered administration. We have Mrs. Susan Phillips, she’s our new food services director and then we have Mr. Dan Howard, who was a bus drivers for us [and] he’s now become our transportation coordinator.”

One piece of news for the community relates to the Rocket Center, which Zucal says can still be accessed by the public between 5:30 and 7:30am, as well as, between 11am and 1pm. Extracurricular sports could change availability so anyone wishing to utilize the facility is asked to go to Conotton Valley’s website, www.cvul.org, and check the calendar under affiliate organizations.
