Harry L. Heavilin, age 88, of Uhrichsville, passed away August 27, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton. He was born March 5, 1935, in Dennison, the son of the late John and Martha (Gatchell) Heavilin.
In 1954, Harry graduated from Uhrichsville High School. He resided in Uhrichsville his entire life except when he was in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Harry retired from the United States Postal Service in 1997 after 32 years of service. After retirement he worked as a groundskeeper and bus driver for Claymont Schools for 13 years. He is a member of the First Christian Church in Uhrichsville and was the treasurer of the Twin City American Legion.
In addition to his parents Harry is preceded in death by his wife Sandra “Suzie” Gold Heavilin, who passed away November 18, 2022; and son Randy Heavilin; brothers Jessie, Jack, and Terry Heavilin; sisters Ella, Wava, Elsie and Nancy Heavilin.
Harry is survived by his children Rickey Heavilin (special friend Jamie Beans) of Uhrichsville and Kandy (Pat) Foley of Greenville; daughter-in-law Teresa Reichman; grandchildren Amanda (Chad) Carney, Ashley (Mike) Kennedy, Derek Heavilin, Danielle Nugo, Megan (Ryan) Ostertag and great grandchildren Dominic and Jakiya Schafer, Kimber, Katie and Kelly Fillman, Peyton Carney, Cade and Colson Nugo, Braelyn Heavilin and Briggs Newman; sisters-in-law Mary and Betty Jane Heavilin and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Harry will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville with the Rev. Mark Unrue. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 1, (two hours prior to services) on Thursday, at the funeral home.
