Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has opened up their Kindergarten Readiness series geared towards children ages 2 to 5 years old.

Each session will explore strategies and share tips to help parents and caregivers prepare their children for school.

Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske says the readiness programs help both the child and the parent become prepared for the start of school.

“All the schools require you to have some sort of kindergarten readiness skills to be able to enter school so this kind of gets you a jump-start to know what is expected of you. You can ask lots of questions. We can help you out with some books after the program is over to kind of get you further into those skills you will need to enter kindergarten.”

Sessions at the Main Library will be held at 11am on September 16th, October 14th, and November 11th. The kindergarten programs will feature “Rhyme Time”, “More or Less”, and “Little & Big.”

Preschool play sessions will be held on November 29th and December 6th at 10:30am at the Strasburg Branch.

Registration is required for these programs can be completed through the calendar at tusclibrary.org or by phone. The Main Library can be reached at 330-364-4474 and the Strasburg Branch can be reached at 330-878-5711.
