The Tuscarawas County Fair officially gets underway Sunday with the king and queen contest, basket auction, and quilts of valor presentation.

Outside of the many 4-H animals, the local fair hosts other competitions open to county residents. Among them is tallest cornstalk, vegetables, canning and preserving, and the scarecrow contest.

Evening grandstand events are also planned. The two free shows, both at 6pm, will be Tuesday’s Band-O-Rama and Thursday’s Touch a Truck, which, will feature over 10 vehicles says Coordinator Jonna (john-ah) Cronebaugh.

“Go Shred, Rosenberry Towing, Battle Motors, Kenworth is bringing a semi, Sheriff’s crime scene van, there will be an excavator, and bucket truck.”

Ticketed grandstand events will be Monday’s 7pm motocross, Wednesday’s That Arena Rock Show beginning at 8pm, the popular OSTPA Sanctioned Truck and Tractor Pull featured on Friday and Saturday, both with a start time of 7pm. The 173rd Tuscarawas Fair ends the week on Sunday, September 24th with the Demolition Derby starting at 7:30pm.

All grandstand seating is reserved and assigned and can be purchased online, at www.tuscarawascountyfairgrounds.com under the entertainment tab, at the fair’s Will Call booth, or during office hours at the Performing Arts Center.
