Patricia L. (Pat) Beechy, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 27, 2023 after a brief battle with Ovarian cancer. This marks the end of what she gratefully referred to as her “37 year bonus round” having beaten Breast Cancer in 1986. It was during the bonus round that her children; Diana (John) Horne, Kevin (Kristin James) Beechy and Steven (Amy Shott) Beechy,  married, started families of their own and added  “Grandma” and eventually “Gigi” to their mom’s monikers. Being a grandma and a great-grandmother were the highlights of the bonus round that included, but was not limited to, enjoying retirement from a teaching career that spanned 3 states and nearly 40 years, continued dedication and active service to her church, St. John UCC of Strasburg, where she most enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving on the History Committee.  Pat’s love of music led her to join The Valley Voices Lady’s Barbershop Chorus.  She also enjoyed the companionship of her dogs, which included her favorite Shih Tzu; Jing.  

Pat is survived by her sister (Barbara) Jean Hawk of Strasburg, her sister in-law Anna Denardi (Cobes) her children, grandchildren; Emma (Andrew) Durbin, Johnathan Horne, Lauren (Logan) Sever, Sarah Beechy and Aiden Beechy and great grandchildren,  Alexander, Abigail, Addison & Anderson Durbin. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Paul C. and Gertrude E. (Heid) Cobes and brothers Robert S. Heid and Jon P. Cobes. 

A memorial service is planned for October 8, 2023, at 3:00 pm at St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg Ohio with Pastor Jason Rissler presiding.  Friends can call one hour prior tot he service on Sunday.  Refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Strasburg has been entrusted with Pat’s final arrangements.
