Nick McWilliams reporting – The new head of the Tuscarawas County Engineer’s Office has a name that will be familiar to residents.

Doug Bachman, who is the son of outgoing engineer Joe Bachman, was appointed to the position by the Democratic Central Committee Thursday night.

Arriving by way of the Harrison County Engineer’s Office, the younger Bachman says that he will utilize his dad as a resource while taking over.

He says that he feels prepared for the new job after his previous working experience.

“I started with Harrison County in 2016, after I graduated college in 2005 and worked for engineering consultants for a few years. I actually worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources here in New Philadelphia from 2009 to 2013.”

He was the lone applicant for the positions remaining term, and takes over after more than three decades by his dad as the lead engineer in the county.
