Mary Alice Reporting –

The Tuscarawas County Health Department has been awarded three grants to benefit children and older adults.

The new multi-year grants from the Ohio Department of Health totals $295,000 and two will help prevent injury in children and older adults and the third will assist with health improvement for adults of child-bearing age.

Director of Public Health and Community Relations Jennifer Demuth says the funding will benefit in areas of injury prevention and improve access to services focused on unhealthy pregnancies.

“These new grants are actually going to help the Tuscarawas County health Department launch new grant program and it will help us build upon our existing services to help area residents of all ages.”

In 2022, the Tuscarawas Health Department served over 3,000 county residents through education efforts and nearly 1,000 residents through a reproductive health and wellness program.
