Mary Alice Reporting –
State funding is helping to move forward a project that will construct 42-inch diameter piping.
Schaeffler Group announced, in February, they would invest over $230 million in building a new manufacturing facility in Dover, which is expected to be complete by late 2025.
Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the grant award of $500,000 for the Parral Storm Water project will divert water to a city retention basin.
“4,200 feet of new pipeline to capture water that currently runs unmitigated from the Village of Parral onto the site where the Schaeffler expansion is to take place.”
Once underway, Gunnoe notes that significant work will be on Crown Road, but road closures are not anticipated.
“So, you’re going to have three, actually four, separate projects going on. You’re going to have Crown Road undergoing a road widening project, and storm water work along Wooster Avenue. You’ll also have a power line project where we’re going to be running new powerlines to the site and then finally some traffic signal work at the intersection at Crown Road and Wooster Avenue.”
Dover is in the process of going out for engineering, which will take some time, with Gunnoe adding that they are optimistic about receiving a second grant. The total project estimation is $1.5 million.
