We’re now less than 90 days away from picking America’s next president and voting on other races and issues.
Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt expects a big turnout at the courthouse for early voting and at the polls on November 5th.
She estimates her office has already received between 12 and 15-hundred applications for mail-in ballots. Those will get mailed out on October 8th, the same day early voting begins at the courthouse.
In addition, the ballot for November features contested races for U.S. senate, congress, state representative, and county commissioner. Garbrandt says there are seven local tax issues including a 1-mill bond request from the New Philadelphia school system.
“There is a constitutional amendment. An anti-gerrymandering amendment and we will have the language at the polling locations and that will also be printed in the newspaper.”
No independents filed their paperwork with the board before Wednesday’s deadline and the only non-partisan candidate was Tuscarawas County Southern District Court Judge JJ Ong, who’s running for re-election.
