State Route 39 between Dover and Sugarcreek should be open by the end of the week, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Public Information Officer for District 11 Lauren Borell says recent weather delayed the roadwork’s completion past Wednesday’s target date.
She anticipates the road reopening later in the week, but she did not have an exact date. 39 has been closed since July 8th, cutting off a popular route between 77 and Sugarcreek’s businesses and tourist attractions.
Borell says about 10-thousand cars a day go through there. She says the road near the entrance of the Kimble Company facility needed safety improvements.
In addition to scaling down the hill there to improve sight distance, crews also lengthened the turning lane and widened the road to accommodate trucks entering and exiting the Kimble facility.
