Mary Alice Reporting –
Following recreational sales opening in Ohio, Empower Tusc is bringing in local and national speakers to talk about cannabis.
Empower Tusc Coordinator Jodi Salvo says the goal for Friday’s (August 30th) symposium is to have balanced education on the food and bad of marijuana.
“And because legalization is here, one thing that people do not understand that cannabis is a complicated issue. When legalization comes in product change and potency changes.”
She notes that one concern is for individual who have never used but are wanting to experiment because it’s now legal.
“They do need to be informed. Again, it’s a very complicated issue. Marijuana the past is not the same as it has been and what it will be with legalization, so we really welcome people to come out.”
Two national guest speakers will be on hand to answer questions, along with local representatives.
“We will have someone speak on public health aspect of cannabis and we will also have someone from the cannabis industry to kind of explain the history of cannabis, the plant itself, the properties of it, so between the two of them I think there’s a lot of great information.”
Speakers, at Kent State Tuscarawas Founder’s Hall, begin at 9am, but a breakfast will be available beforehand, so attendees are encouraged to pre-register through a QR code available on the poster at Empower Tusc’s Facebook page or call 330-440-7320.
