Daniel DeVecka, 80, of New Philadelphia, died September 1, 2024, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

A son of the late John and Jean Kathryn (Mals) DeVecka, Dan was born May 14, 1944, in Dover.

Dan honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

On November 11, 1969, Dan married the late Sue Ellen Kiser in First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and together the couple raised two sons, Daniel and John.

Dan was employed with Zimmer for more than 43 years where he served as a receiving clerk. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. #510 and an avid OSU Buckeyes fan.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Jr. and Tina DeVecka of New Philadelphia and John and Tina DeVecka of Dover; his grandchildren, Zoe, Dawson, Emily and Zach DeVecka; a sister-in-law, Karen Ramsey and two brothers-in-law, Dave (Kathy) Kiser and Mark (Celia) Kiser; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dan was preceded in passing by his sisters, Susan Barnaby and Sandra Simcox; brother-in-law, Craig Kiser; and parents-in-law, Kenny and Doris Kiser.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Dan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jon Long officiating. Guests are invited to dress in OSU or casual wear on Friday and Saturday. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 will render military honors.
