Jane Conkle, 89, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton.
Jane was born on November 1, 1934, to the late Home John and Hazel (Fisher) Bitikofer in Sugarcreek in the same home she was currently residing in and on June 9, 1956, she married Wayne Roger Conkle. He died on February 21, 1982.
She graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1953 and was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek.
She worked at Alsco in New Philadelphia when it was in the former Belmont Building prior to the company moving to Sugarcreek. When he husband, Wayne, died she became a Bargain Hunter carrier and supervisor for 10 years.
Jane was a member of the Post 494 Ladies Auxiliary and the Dover VFW Auxiliary and served them as Chaplain for many years.
Jane is survived by her son, Mitch Conkle, who resides in Sugarcreek.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Jay Conkle in 1992, her daughter Delarece Conkle in 1973 and more recently her sister Margene Krall.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Earl Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 AM at the funeral home prior to services
