Steven Joseph Rober, age 64, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at his home with his loving family at his side on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born December 18, 1959 in Toledo, Ohio, he was a son of the late Kenneth John and Cecelia Carol (O’Donnell) Rober.

After his graduation from Toledo Central Catholic High School, Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in natural systems from Defiance College, preparing him for his employment as the Superintendent of Twin City Water and Sewer Department. Over 20 years ago, he began what became his favorite career, operating his own massotherapy practice from his home.

Steve loved mentoring youth and will be remembered for his work as a Merit Badge Counselor with Boy Scouts of America, as well as coaching Girls’ Basketball. He was an avid reader and a fierce trivia competitor who also loved playing Dungeons and Dragons and fantasy football with his sons. Steve was a great music lover and spent many years collaborating with his wife and her family as the soundman for their band – Putnam System Rewind – and for Potluck Duo.

On March 17, 1982, Steve married Christine Anne (Putnam) Rober who survives him along with their children, Jeremy (Kristine) Rober of Bowling Green, Ohio, Capt. Tim (Suzie) Rober who is stationed at Fort Irwin in California, Lisa Rober of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Marlena (Michael Provenzano) Rober of Enfield, Connecticut; and grandchildren, Dax, Evangeline, Emersen, and Cecilia. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim (Terri) Rober, Judy (Dave) Dombrosky, Jackie Rober, and Kenny (Marsha) Rober; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Harold) Hawkins, Susan (Larry) Davis, Barbara (Earl) Arnold, Maureen (Tom) Speckhard, Robert (Debra) Putnam, Neil (Jackie) Putnam, Mike (Dena) Putnam, Edmund Putnam, Stephen (Davey) Putnam, and Thomas (Jane) Putnam; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Rober, and his parents-in-law, Bob and Mary Anne Putnam.

In keeping with his wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial service, officiated by Father Jeff Coning, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers for an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring Steve’s memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Elementary or the charity of the donor’s choice.
