Larry Allen Greenwood, 87, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House in New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health. Born October 14, 1936 in the Roanoke neighborhood of Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Alva Edgar Greenwood, Sr. and Chestina Elizabeth (Lauver) Greenwood.

Larry grew up in the Twin City area before moving to California where he resided for 45 years, prior to returning home in 2003. He had worked for a number of painting and home construction companies over the years and was a longtime member of Uhrichsville Eagles Aerie #2264.

On April 26, 1958, he married the former Margie Louise Weaver with whom he shared 64 years of marriage until her passing on May 27, 2022. They are survived by six children, Carla Willkett, Michael Greenwood, Laurie Catchings, Robert Greenwood, Brenda Greenwood (Henry Roup), and John Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Shane) Walters, Christopher (Rhiannon) Deck, David (Melissa) Kasamis, Amanda Greenwood (Dustin Maxwell), Alicia Pongrat (Jack Rine), Amber (Jeremiah) Lambert, Brenda Hankins, Bryan Durham, Justin Durham, and Jillian Weber (Hope); and 25 great-grandchildren with another expected. Larry is also survived by his siblings, Donald (Shirley) Greenwood and Melva (Austin) Beckley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Larry was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Greenwood; son-in-law, Steve Willkett; brothers, Alva Jr., Jackie Lee, Dale Richard, Frank Benjamin “Sonny”, Earl, and Lewis “Butch” Greenwood; and sisters, Eleanor Malterer, Mary Lou Shaw, Linda Froman, and Winifred Gibbens.

His family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Larry’s nephew, Jeff Greenwood, will officiate a graveside service on a future date in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery when Larry is interred with his beloved wife. Charitable contributions honoring Larry’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
