Charlene L. “Chonnie” Miller, 96, of Dover, formerly of Sugarcreek, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Ohio’s Hospice (formerly Community Hospice) Truman House following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on April 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Cora (Hasseman) Wolf.  She married Blaine F. Miller on July 17, 1947, and they celebrated a wonderful 71 years together. He passed on March 11, 2019.

Chonnie’s career included work as a court reporter, and as a postal clerk at the Sugarcreek U.S. Postal Office.  She enjoyed volunteering her time as a grey lady at Union Hospital in Dover and at Community Hospice for twenty years. She was an avid reader. As a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, she also served as the church secretary.

She is survived by her children; Todd (Karen) Miller of Dover, Kelly Miller of Stone Creek, and Amy (Blake) Angel of North Canton; grandchildren Tiffany (Chuck) Zobel, and Ryan (Kris) Howell; and seven great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Kathleen (Howard) Brown.

Services for Chonnie will be held at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sharman Hartson officiating.  Burial will follow in Ragersville Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
