One of the suspects in the beating of a 53-year-old outside of his home is taking a plea deal that could keep him out of prison.
20-year-old Wyatt Shaw of Gnadenhutten is facing up to 18 months behind bars for a February 9th attack near New Philadelphia after pleading no contest to aggravated assault. The charge was reduced from felonious assault.
However, Tuscarawas county prosecutor Ryan Styer has agreed to request a lighter punishment of a term of community-controlled sanctions that could include local jail time.
Shaw entered the plea Monday when he appeared before Tuscarawas county common pleas court judge Elizabeth Thomakos, who will dole out his punishment on December 17th.
Shaw and Landon Levengood of Sherrodsville are accused of following the victim home and assaulting him after what sheriff’s officials describe as a ‘road rage incident’ involving the two vehicles.
